Reducing Immigration Won’t Solve The Housing Crisis
Cutting red tape, rather than immigration, should be the principled and consistent solution to lowering prices and improving housing affordability. Unfortunately, it seems politicians are more concerned with suppressing competition rather than freeing our housing markets. Tony Abbott has said the government could ease housing demand by scaling back immigration “at least until land release and infrastructure can keep up”.
