IPA Research Fellow Daniel Wild was quoted in the Herald Sun on the decision of Yarra Council to pass a motion demanding the federal government intervene in the current refugee crisis in Myanmar. This follows the council’s decision in August to no longer recognise Australia Day.
“This is another example of local council overreach” Mr Wild said.
“Councillors should be focused on rates, roads, and rubbish, not international refugee issues over which they have no jurisdiction”.
