Are you committed to freedom and Australian values? Then we are looking for you!

The Future Leaders Program at the Centre for the Australian Way of Life is a new internship program by the Institute of Public Affairs, which will provide you with the practical and intellectual skills required to maintain and enhance mainstream Australian values.

Applications are now open Australia-wide for our 2023 intake. The Future Leaders Program is offering four paid full-time internships with a 6-month duration. Successful applicants will be paid a salary of $30,000 plus an expense allowance of $2,500.

You will need to demonstrate a proven track record of academic success or success in other fields such as work and volunteering, a passion and enthusiasm for the future of Australia, and for personal self-development.

The first intake will take place between 9 January 2023 until 30 June 2023, with a second intake between 3 July 2023 and 22 December 2023. Two Future Leaders will be selected for each intake. You must be able to work full-time for the 6-month internship during your preferred intake.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Any current university students and recent graduates can apply to become a Future Leader. Applicants will need to include a copy of a university academic transcript as part of the application process.

To apply, complete the fields under ‘Apply Now’, including name and contact information, and attach the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Cover letter explaining why you should be appointed a Future Leader
  • Academic transcript
Applicants will then need to answer five (5) essay questions:
  • What are the most important issues facing Australia today?
  • What did the response to COVID-19 from governments say about Australia?
  • Are you optimistic about the future of Australia? Why or why not?
  • In your opinion, what does the Australian way of life mean?
  • If you could do one thing to improve Australia, what would it be, and why?

Yes, successful candidates will be paid a salary of $30,000 over their 6-month full-time internship. Additionally, successful candidates will be provided with an expense allowance of $2,500, regardless of their geographic location.

The Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) is a not-for-profit research organisation committed to enhancing human dignity and flourishing through freedom. The IPA is supported by the voluntary contributions of over 7,500 members.

Future Leaders are appointed for 6 months on a full-time basis, with a summer and winter intake:

  • Summer intake: 9 January 2023 – 30 June 2023
  • Winter intake: 3 July 2023 – 22 December 2023

Four (4) internships are offer each year; two (2) for the summer intake, and two (2) for the winter intake.

The Centre for the Australian Way of Life at the Institute of Public Affairs is a centre of cultural and intellectual influence and authority. The purpose of the Centre is to maintain and enhance the Australian way of life, and is the voice for mainstreams Australians and their values.
