Julian Coleman was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs, working across climate, energy, and economic policy with a focus on Western Australia. He researches the costs and reliability risks of net zero policies, the decline in private investment, and the growing approval barriers facing major projects and primary industries. He writes research notes, briefings and commentary, prepares submissions to parliamentary and regulatory inquiries, and communicates the IPA’s work to media, policymakers and the public.
Julian is the author of Launch-pad failure: How WA’s 2020 climate plan blew up the grid, missed its targets, and cost taxpayers $2 billion, the first five-year review of WA’s whole-of-government climate policy.
Before joining the IPA, he spent nearly a decade in digital transformation and business development, including as a Public Sector Account Executive at Salesforce. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Western Australia and has done further study in communications and data analytics.
