Christian McLaughlan
Campus Coordinator

Christian McLaughlan is the Campus Coordinator at the University of Sydney for Generation Liberty; part of the Institute of Public Affairs’ Future of Freedom Program. In this role Christian works closely with student groups to encourage free market ideas and a university environment characterized by ideological tolerance and academic freedom.

Christian is passionate about protecting free speech on campus and reducing government regulation in the publishing sector to make textbooks more affordable for students. It was these shared ideas that brought Christian to the IPA.

Before joining the IPA Christian worked for state and federal parliamentarians as well as the New South Wales Department of Premier and Cabinet working on the contentious policy issue of Local Government Reform.

Christian grew up in regional New South Wales and attended Central Coast Grammar School before studying a Bachelor of Political, Economic and Social Sciences at The University of Sydney, majoring in Government and International Relations.

He is now studying a Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations and serves as the Secretary of The University of Sydney Conservative Club. He is also active in the Young Liberals as a Branch President and the Rural and Regional Officer on the NSW Young Liberal Executive.
